It is hard for me to believe that in 3 weeks, Gracie will be in First Grade. In school ALL day (we are on year round school). Time is flying by. I should know how fast time flies, Kaylee (my oldest) will be 21 the end of this year.
Gracie's teacher, Mrs. Scott, is wonderful. She is very loving and accepting of all types of personalities. This is her first year back, after having raised her family. She seems happy to be teaching again and was even a little emotional at the graduation. It feels good for a parent to know that their child is liked and loved-that they matter-to their teacher. It's always good to have as many people "in your corner" as possible. People who want to see you do well and support you however they can. Mrs. Scott has been one of those people for Gracie.
Gracie, Pyper and Kimmie are classmates and have become good friends over the past month or two. They play after school together often and ride their bikes home from school. I am so proud of Gracie. Over the past 4 mos. she is becoming so independent and happy. She is doing things that I never thought I'd see her do. She rides her bike to school, she has taught herself to jump rope and hula hoop. She enjoys doing her own hair and choosing her own outfits lately. For Gracie, these are huge things. I'd been quite worried about her for a while, she didn't really seem to care about anything. So a big hurrah for Gracie! You go girl! I love you!
One more funny story about Gracie: She took Mrs. Scott a gift for graduation-a 2009 stuffed graduation monkey. Something to remind her about her 2009 class. I was picking up the kids at Angie's graduation afternoon and telling Angie about the monkey-she says-"Oh the one sitting right over there?" Apparently, Gracie told Mrs. Scott she needed the monkey back because it was her brothers. Hmmmm.....Mrs. Scott gave it to her graciously, of course.
